I had such high expectations because book 1 was so hauntingly beautiful and although the writing is very good in book 2 I felt it did not live up the the 1st. Staccato is definitely worth reading and characters are complex but I failed to connect with why they were so unmotivated to improve their situation until the very end and arghh Nik was so frustrating when he felt like nothing worked out for him but he never asked for what he needed or what would make him happy.

I loved seeing the characters from book 1 towards the end however I was so upset with the Ben and Cedric story in the end (don't want to detail more to include any spoilers, but it just felt wrong.

Overall this is a very well written book and definitely worth the read, I just think my expectations were too high after book 1.
