Her Last Breath by Alison Belsham

5.0

Detective Francis Sullivan and his team are back in the second book of the Sullivan/Mullins series, and this one is even more intense than the first!

A young woman is brutally assaulted, tattooed with a strange phrase, and fighting for her life. She happens to be the girlfriend of Alex Mullins, Marni’s son. As more women are abducted, they race against time to stop the crimes, even as evidence mounts against Alex.

I loved the first book in this series, and I LOVED this book. I absolutely could not put it down. There is something about the way Belsham writes that is just so visual, making the pages fly by. This is a fast-paced thriller with much going on for each character we first met in The Tattoo Thief. It was fantastic to revisit the lives of everyone involved in the first case, but the race to solve this case is center-stage and intense.

This series reads like a movie and gives classic Alex Cross or Robert Landon vibes but with the finesse of a female writer’s hand. If you like mysteries and thrillers, I’d put these down as MUST READ and the audiobook is absolutely fantastic.
