The Home for Unwanted Girls by Joanna Goodman

4.0

This book was made even more heart-wrenching by the fact that it talks about true historical events that not many people are aware of in Canadian (specifically Quebec) history. The story is gut-wrenching and yet filled with hope and redemption. The story spans several years but it moves along at a good pace, giving good glimpses into the lives of the characters as time passes. I would have liked a bit more insight into Elodie's internal world but much of it is left to the reader to assume. All in all an excellent yet devastating story.
