I really enjoyed this book and the flow of the plot. This book taught me a lot about the dust bowl, and the circumstances in which people will uproot their lives for the sake of survival.  It’s also a very poignant lesson in grit, tenacity, and self preservation. Elsa and her children were written very well and I felt like I knew them. The relationship that Kristen Hanna builds between Elsa and her daughter was so relatable, and to see the growth within both characters made me invested in this story
