I always enjoyed stories that have and old cold case that connects to the current cases the detectives are working. Callie has followed in her father's footsteps in becoming a detective and so when she gets called to the house of a missing girl, she first feels that this might just be a runaway teen. But as more time passes with no word from the missing girl she knows something is wrong. Digging through her social media and interviewing all her friends they know she was supposed to babysit for a new to the area family. But that family does not exist and the house where this job was supposedly, is for sale on a secluded street. Finding a few items that could be clues, Callie knows the clock is ticking. Once piece of evidence has a tie back to an old case of her father's but that hardly seems possible. But could it be? That was the case that ended her father's career as well as his motivation for life. Having a strained relationship with him lately, she is afraid to mention this case and what she has found but no one else knew that case better than her father. She cannot let another missing girl become another cold case and discussing this case with him may just be what it will take to find this girl before it's too late. I really enjoyed this story and how the case was part of the father/daughter relationship. Thank you to the author for the complementary novel and to Suzy Approved Book Tours for the invite. This review is of my own opinion and accord.
