The main female character, Meredith, was interesting with enough depth to make it worth struggling through the novel. I want to say that her personality changed from her first appearance to the rest of the novel (because her actions sometimes seem incongruous), but I believe that isn’t true: we just see more of her as the novel develops.
On the other hand there’s Stephen, the male protagonist, whose personality is lacking, to put it kindly.
You could make it a drinking game out of his descriptions, taking a drink every time he’s described as masculine/a predator/dominant. Unfortunately, by the end of the book you would be dead.

The ending felt rushed and the entire novel could’ve been better if it had been shorter and better written.
