I don’t know if there’s ever been a Gemma Weir book I didn’t enjoy.

This one leaves me feeling somewhat conflicted. I loved Riley. I loved Smoke. Seeing an arrogant self-absorbed man knocked down a few notches always makes me happy.
I didn’t understand the point of mentioning adoption. As an adoptee, it always rubs me the wrong way when it’s sunshine and roses and on DNA doesn’t matter. Cuz that isn’t true at all. I kept waiting for some big reveal or drama or relevance, but that didn’t happen.

The same with Dan. What was the point of him?I don’t know cuz it never went anywhere. Maybe he existed to show Riley he wasn’t what she wanted, but still.

Definitely an MC Light story but that didn’t bother me. If you’re looking for the regular MC drama and violence, it’s not here. However, if you love a light hearted story with a smidge of angst and mind waiting until 60% for the
