Weirdly readable for overall a pretty flat book. The narrator and main characters is utterly unlikeable, narcissistic, manipulative and cruel. I love a dark read but this didn’t work for me. She gets away with some vile stuff without really ever losing the people around her, is clearly violently unwell mentally which never gets properly addressed, nor does it add a lot, and is an unreliable narrator in a pretty boring way. The ending felt like it was supposed to be poetic somehow but was bland.
Irina is an insufferable asshole throughout. Boring supporting characters, too. Everyone felt very 1-dimentional. The entire book just felt like it was trying really hard to be edgy and challenging.
