There are premises of world building which are incompatible with each other and impacted my ability to enjoy this book after a certain point. I also found the near constant sexual obsessions of the main character disturbing and annoying, a weird combination. Very nearly dnf'd but it was my first atwood and felt i shouldn't. Not a great introduction, honestly. Trigger list only for some of the near endless list.
