Honestly, I didn't think I would like this book. I loved it. I am over the age to be reading this even though I did have the original cover copy of the book but I just refused to read it. I loved it and I am said I didn't read it sooner. I had been meaning to read this book for years but just kept putting it off.

Percy. I love him as a main character and he is totally not the same way in the movies (I do actually like the first movie but when I do watch it again to me they will be two completely didn't universes). He was so likable to me and his friendships were believable. His journey in the first book was refreshing. He acted like a kid his age would act if they found out that the world of the Gods was real and not stories that were passed down through the ages. He responded like a kid and did everything that a kid most likely would do if put in his situation.

Annabeth. I loved Annabeth as a part of the trio. She showed why she would be the daughter of Athena. She had flaws and they were understandable and realistic. She helped carry the plot and wasn't just used how most side characters are. She felt like a real person with feelings and like she added on to the story not just only a part of the hero's quest which she was but she felt like she was more to me.

Gover. He did his job very well. I was happy with his ending. Honestly, Grover was me at some point in this book his fear in certain situations was understandable. He did however stand up to fight with his friends when the time came and also let Percy find his way on his own.

So the world-building was great. How Greek mythology and the modern world mixed was amazing. How the Gods have just been living among them. How they have just been living with the times and integrating as they need to. I loved how he added mythology to the story and made it flow so well together. At no point did the story feel slow to me. It kept moving along the way and I loved it. This first book was amazing and I am glad I waited to read it could as a child this would have sucked to wait for the next book. The quest was solved and the main storyline flowed nicely. In the end, I didn't feel like the story was incomplete and the answers that needed to be answered were. It was great of setting up the whole arching story and everything that is to come later.

I would recommend this for young children, teens, and adults it is a good fun story. There isn't much thought you have to put in. You can just have fun along the way and just enjoy.
