Wildflower Heart by Grace Greene

3.0

2.5/5 stars for this book. Since there aren't half stars I round up for my rating here on Goodreads.

Thank you to Goodreads, Lake Union Publishing and Grace Greene for a free copy of this book, through Goodreads Giveaways. As always, an honest review from me.

Sorry to the author and publisher, because I took forever to finish reading this book. I try my best to read the books in a timely manner after receiving them from a Goodreads Giveaway. I realize that it's a privilege that the author has gifted me with a free book in exchange for my review and don't want to disregard their generosity. Lately I've been struggling to be able to read my stack of books I've won through these giveaways, due to chronic health issues and other unforeseen life circumstances. I'm slowly working on it though, so thank you for being patient with me.

Like:
- The process and life lessons that the main character goes through throughout the entire book. There's so much growth and change, which I think most people can relate to.
- The quote at the end that Kara stitched onto a sampler - super relatable and quite poetic

Love:
- the beautiful setting and descriptive imagery - the wildflowers, immense grounds of the older house, the antique character of the furnishings

Dislike:
- the relationship between Kara and her friend. I didn't think it added much to the story, and I personally didn't like her friend very much.
- Kara: the main character. While I didn't dislike her, I definitely didn't like her. And for me, if I don't like or connect with the main character I usually don't enjoy the entire book as much.

Wish that:
- The premise made more sense for the characters. It's a good story that's relatable but it didn't feel as if it fit quite right.
- It was a more interesting reading experience. This was probably part of the reason why it took me so long to read it. There wasn't anything that made me "need to read" the next chapter, so it was really easy to not want to pick it up often.

Overall, a pleasant book filled with many relatable life lessons. I wasn't a huge fan of the main character so that significantly took away from my enjoyment of the book. The absolutely gorgeous settings were a high point for me.
