This book was a ride. What I thought would be a simple retelling was actually a full experience. I loved the writing style. It was immersive and intrigued me to keep reading. I couldn't put this book down. Some chapters felt a bit long for what was happening. I don't want to include chapter spoilers in this review so I won't explain in dept. But these chapters were mostly worldbuilding, describing what was happening etc. I felt like these chapters slowed down the story a bit. Nonetheless, they are a big reason as to why the story was immersive.
Vanja is a great main character. Intricate, cunning, vulnerable and actuallya softy (in my humble opinion) . The way that her different 'personas' were described and handled made it truly seem like they were different people. I loved reading about who she trul felt while being those people. I loved Emeric. He's both similar and the complete opposite of Vanja. There interactions were a lot of fun to read. He really brought out Vanja's soft side.
Overall a solid plot, good characters and even better twists.
