Compete Every Day: The Not-So-Secret Secret to Winning Your Work and Life by Jake Thompson
5.0
I’ve followed Jake and the Compete Every Day community for quite some time so I was very excited to get my hands on this book. This is one of those books that you will keep on your nightstand to continuously reference. It is a manifesto for being a competitor in every area of your life. I love the amount of research that went into this book. Jake references countless books and articles to support his information. He also includes sports in a lot of examples which I personally enjoyed. I found the book to be very relatable and something that could apply to everyone no matter what career or stage of life they are in. I appreciate the organization of the book with actionable steps in relation to your career, health, and personal life included in every chapter as well as chapter takeaways to highlight the key information. I found myself highlighting and writing little stars all over the book next to sentences I loved. A part of the book that really resonated with me personally was when he talks about not worrying about what other people are doing and instead focus on “my own lane.” Those words have always meant something to me because we don’t always do everything on a perfect timeline and that’s ok! All of our paths can look differently. There is room for all of us. There is not a limited supply of success! I love what Jake and the Compete Every Day brand stand for. I admire Jake’s commitment to serve his community and inspire others to compete for their lives. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Remember, show up for your life and put your shopping cart away!
