An epic in a literary sense. You are tangled into this interweaving web of families that call Willesden home, spanning decades, countries and generations. It is a no nonsence, no sugar coating portrait of multicultural London.
Themes: Racism, colonialism, multiculturism, identity
The ending was rushed, there was suspense built up but ultimately it was underwhelming. I guess you could say 'teething' problems given it was Smith's first novel. Can't wait to read more of her work.
