Chef's Kiss by TJ Alexander

Did not finish book. Stopped at 24%.
Uh nope nope nope nope. This shit is fucking insufferable. Most millennial ass cringy shit combined with some good old disrespect against queer people. Nice.

Like the choice of making Simone’s ex gf getting pissy with her because Simone’s bi and saying she’s “not a real lesbian” is literally just dumb and doesn’t make sense. Yeah she’s not a ‘real lesbian’ because she isn’t one at all! She’s bi dude! Can we just stop! Gay people should be kissing each other not invalidating each other’s identities. Let’s all shut up 😁 And then Simone’s so unbelievably stressed about being considered a homophobe just because she’s not into Ray, making up weird excuses like her being too “tall and butchy” for her 😃

And the whole choice of Ray not being classified as nonbinary from the get go is weird, and makes reading things like “girl” and “her” used for them weird. Just let them be out and enby from the beginning!

And the whole NAME thing my god. Not accepting Petey’s name and instead calling him what I inferred to be his deadname, plus people not calling Ray Ray and Simone being all confused and annoying at why their name was Ray when she perceived them to be a girl.

Simone’s also annoying to her trans roommate, who reacted in just the most perfect way, telling Simone she isn’t responsible for educating her on what is and isn’t offensive to trans people. That rules!

Everything else is just too much. Some wack ass choices were put into this, man.
