I am sick with covid so please accept this brain foggy review.

I loved this book, as someone who is half-Japanese and loves video games (my main pastime when I’m listening to audio books) I found myself thoroughly engrossed with the story and characters Zevin gave us. The cast of characters felt real without being too larger than life (with the exception of Dov) and much of the conflicts in the book had a grounded aspect to them. While there were moments I where I personally had to take long breaks due to triggering events in the book (these will be listed below), I felt that it didn’t detract from the overall enjoyment of the narrative that was being told. Highly recommend, especially those in the AAPI community, as Zevin carefully treads the waters regarding Asian-American experiences living in the United States.
