The Siren of Sussex by Mimi Matthews

5.0

Delightful. I'm a fan of Matthews' books, and this was no exception. I was so excited to read Ahmad's story, after becoming so curious about him in _A Modest Independence_. I'm often frustrated by romances that elide over the really problematic politics of the time, Matthews offers an engaging and tender story that ruminates on the human and intimate effects of British colonialism. It is a teensy bit heavy-handed and repetitive at times, but overall, so delightful.
