Mera: Tidebreaker by Danielle Paige

3.0

I have a lot of mixed feelings about Mera, so hopefully this will clear those up.

This started off with a fierce and unique story that reminded me a lot of Brave (girl doesn’t want to get married, goes off to find her own fate), but then quickly deflated into an uninteresting romance plot that, for me, lost all sense of adventure and turned into more of a “But Daddy, I love him!” Little Mermaid moment. Overall, I enjoyed it, and loved the art, but the story flopped and left the reader with an unresolved and uninspired ending.
