Talk about a book that is going to stay with you! I wasn’t expecting this book to hit me so hard. I actually choked up which I have only done with one other book, that I can remember. Between the way it’s written and everything it’s about there’s no way to not feel something while reading this.
I could say it’s about a bunch of different things such as race, masculinity, sexuality and relationships with your parents but while it has all of that I think at the bottom of all of the it’s about connection. Connection to not only the people you love but to everything the world has to offer. It’s about understanding and being accepted and a feeling of wanting to belong. Overall, whether it was intended or not I think this book describes the true meaning of being a human being.
It’s a wonderful book that I wish I could explain how amazing it is in words but this is simply a book you’ll have to read for yourself to appreciate it.
