Shades of Wicked by Jeaniene Frost

4.0

I jumped the gun on a MacHalo Buddy Read and read this early. In my defense, I had a fancy and decided to unapologetically stroke it.

It's been years since I've read a Jeaniene Frost book, and I am shamefully far behind in the series. So why not just dash ahead and read the new series to Night Huntress Universe? So yea, total major spoilers for me, but I don't regret it.

Sometimes I get too wrapped up in discovering new PN authors that I have to step back and remember where I came from. My love for paranormal comes from authors Ilona Andrews, Jeaniene Frost, Jim Butcher and Patricia Briggs. When Shelly suggested a Jeaniene Frost buddy read I said, "Hell yes!"

Nobody can put the sex in PNR like Jeaniene Frost. Straight from the opening scene Jeaniene had me. It was dripping with hot sexiness and I knew this was going to be a fun book to read. What took me by surprise was how many new types of "powers" and "monsters" there were. Where I left off in the Universe it wasn't as complex or convoluted -- that I remember.

All in all, loved it! Fantastic action and Ian and Veritas make a perfect couple. Looking forward to book 2.
