I did it!!!

This was an epic saga. I was a little intimated at first by this book, but I told myself not to rush and to just pick it up when I felt like it. I probably won’t be taking 6 months to read the second book (whenever I decide to start that), but I am at least better mentally prepared for the writing style than I was before starting this one.

It’s pretty obvious that Diana Gabaldon did an incredible amount of research when writing this book. The world is so concrete and all-encompassing. My one complaint is that because of this attention to detail, the book is looooong. We have so many chapters with ‘slice of life’ Highlander edition, but we probably didn’t need all of them because this book is 850 pages long.

Another thing…. The steam? Where was it?? There was definitely sex, but it was mainly Jamie saying something flirtatious before time passing and the book moving on to Claire searching for herbs or learning how to make candles or whatever. Like… ok cool, but… I was promised steam. 💁🏼‍♀️😂

I’m very proud of myself for actually reading this tome, something I never thought I could do, and I know my Grandma is smiling down at me. 💚
