The second half is better than the first. The beginning where she is so fearful and mournful is moving but repetitive and not nearly as compelling as the first book. It feels like she’s trying to make a full book out of anxious, claustrophobic days instead of a trek. But there is an adventure or two later on and this memoir ends on a high. Keep on reading to the last page.
