The Isle of Cadence Duology 5⭐️

I just can't with these books. They were perfect. A River Enchanted took me by surprise, I wasn't expecting to love it as much as I did. Ross has most definitely taken inspiration from Scottish mythology, and I just couldn't get enough.

The writing is immaculate, the setting vivid and cosy, with a magic system that takes a toll on its users, and wind spirits that carry off your muttered secrets to nearby ears. I want to live here with these wonderful people and never leave. The characterisation was so good. Sidra and Torin ended up being my favourites. They both grow so much throughout the story, especially Torin.

I've been let down by duologys in the past because they either feel like they need to be one book or three. The first book had a defined ending but left lots unresolved. The second book finished it off perfectly. Not a chapter wasted in my eyes.

If you love cosy character driven fantasy, definitely give the Isle of Cadence a try, I can promise you won't regret it. And I will be very jealous that you get to read it for the first time🫠
