If You Tell by Gregg Olsen

dark sad medium-paced

2.0

A disappointing account of a horrific true crime. This book details the abuse and neglect perpetrated by Shelly Knotek against her family and friends. The book is a bit repetitive in its descriptions of the abuse but lacks depth in terms of understanding how Shelly came to be so abusive, why there was no investigation into the family, or “the unbreakable bond of sisterhood” noted in the title. There is no redemption here. Moreover, the author seemed far too sympathetic to Shelly’s husband, who actively participated in the abuse. ⭐️ ⭐️
