Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller

3.0

okay my main complaint was I wasn’t as invested in this story as her other one: the shadow between us.

I came into this expecting an amazing, fast pace, action pack, kickbutt pirates! and ofcourse the romance! although I had some of those things, it wasn’t filling.

love the writing style though, but sometimes I question whether the writing style is the one for me. but I figure it was because of the plot, cause to me I really like the writing style.

the structure is also so nice, it’s refreshing. there’s no paragraphs after paragraph of description. though somehow most of the fighting scene just went over my head.

tbh when I first started reading this, everything went over my head and I found myself falling asleep. not even joking. but then I was able to get more invested.

toward the end it was not possible for me to stop, mainly because I wanted to return this book to the library so I could borrow another one. but still I found it really intriguing at the end.

but again, to me everything was just too slow. that it just was not necessary... well that’s what it felt like. like this could all be concise and maybe there wouldn’t be need for another book. (although I’ll still read The Daughter of The Siren Queen)

the characters... I find them amazing! just not attached to them. like I really like the characters personality and dynamics. and they are so intriguing but I just don’t feel any attachment.

overall, an okay read: it’s more of a slow pace light fantasy. if that’s what you’re looking for, then pick this book up.
