Defensive Wounds by Lisa Black

3.0

Defensive Wounds reads like an episode of CSI-- kind of flashiy, going for an entertaining thrill, not necessarily a personal literary experience. A couple of themes that are annoying repeated throughout the novel are that defense attorneys exploit the legal system for their own fame/success and the "hot, sexy, every guy wanted her" victim. O.k., I understand those themes are central to the plot; but that message was clear after like the third repeat, yet Lisa Black keeps hitting the reader over the head with those points.[return][return]Despite those complaints, I did find the novel entertaining, just like I love a little CSI when I am in the right mood.
