Oathbringer by Brandon Sanderson

5.0

While Oathbringer does a good job of untangling the mess left over after the cataclysmic events of Words of Radiance, it was also the first time that the word slog peeped into my mind reading this series. To me it felt as if it took a while for this book to get going as the characters attempt to work out what they should do next. Oathbringer introduces so many new perspectives and characters that at points I was wondering when I'd get back to a character I had been following for over 3000 pages at this point. However, other than these minor gripes, I thoroughly enjoyed reading Oathbringer. Sanderson's excellent plotting is here as always, the characters are great (Adolin and Kaladin in particular), and Sanderson's prose is ever improving. Surprisingly, I actually laughed out loud a few times as well.
