The Happiest Toddler on the Block: The New Way to Stop the Daily Battle of Wills and Raise a Secure and Well-Behaved One- To Four-Year-Old by Harvey Karp

I read this REALLY slowly, which means I can barely remember the advice at the beginning. BUT I have tried to implement some of the advice and it seems to work really well with my son for the past 6-mo. The most valuable thing I have learned is that instead of immediately telling your child "no", relate back to them what it is that they want so they understand that you understand what it is they want. For some reason, it helps them calm down and be more understanding when you give a no (and a reason for the no). I think I will refer to this occasionally, and may read it again.
