A Turn of Light by Julie E. Czerneda

5.0

I loved the characters and strong sense of place in this epic fantasy. The author's afterward explained how she got such a strong sense of place and time, but what I loved the most about the story was the unique twist that was added. There were dragons, unicorns, and fairies but each magical creature had unique traits that made them new and more believable. Loved the house toads!! The first person format with the main characters was well maintained and they didn't switch so often that I lost the story. Readers of David Eddings will like this series while fans of George R.R. Martin might find it a bit to pastoral.
