The Gentleman's Book of Vices by Jess Everlee

2.0

It wasn't a terrible book, but there wasn't a ton of stuff happening and it felt like the main characters weren't that involved; it was primarily their friends solving all of their problems for them. Definitely dragged in places because there wasn't enough going on.

Also, for a book that was advertised to be quite kinky/steamy, there's like one sex scene that goes to completion (Bjs) and then a couple of other scenes that get to about halfway through and then fade to black so abruptly that I did wonder if I'd accidentally hit the skip button on my audiobook app. It felt like the author didn't know how to continue the scene so they just stopped writing it, it was bizarre. Also when one of the characters writes kinky erotica and keeps talking about how he's going to do "such terrible things" to his lover, you'd think the steamy scenes would be a bit less vanilla. IDK, it just felt like a bit of a tonal mismatch.
