The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul by Douglas Adams

3.0

"Even eagles were being swooped on by eagles" pretty much sums up the book for me: funny, but random, and too much action. And yes, there is a thing as too many eagles.

As compared to Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency, this one looked better plot-wise at first, but then became much more of a let-down.

I have to admit that the randomness didn't bother me as much as the long, detailed scenes of supernatural hammers being thrown around and eagles swooping on different people (well, mainly Dirk). Too much action, no mystery, as some other reviewers said.

I'm now staring to believe that Gently's signature "inter-connectedness of things" approach was more of an excuse for Adams to explain the randomness of the plot than anything else.
