This was my very 1st dark romance novel. And I must say that I will definitely be continuing this series.
Well it definitely may have read sort of like a fanfiction, I had an amazing time reading it. I am the type of person to feel awkward when I read about this sort of content, but I found it to be very entertaining. And while it may not be the best representation of BDSM, It is certainly much more promising than 50 Shades of Gray. It definitely drew the line When it came to consent, Which I particularly appreciated. The author made it very clear that the main protagonist was consenting to all actions brought upon her.
Of course it has it's cliche moments, but I found it to be quite charming.I cannot wait to read the next book.
There is definitely a trigger warning for rape. It is near the end of the book, so take this as a warning if that is a sensitive subject for you.I
Overall, I found it to be a rather empowering book. I have had similar dreams of breaking away from expectations that are put upon me, and I wish that I had the guts like Tate to do it! Allowing a strong woman to be the main protagonist in this book was refreshing to read. Not only that, but a strong, struggling, hard-working woman.
Also, the ending left me wanting more!
