Death Rites by E.A. Copen

5.0

I have a soft spot for Necromancers as good guys so it was a pleasure to read Death Rites. Laz is snarky and more caring than he likes to let on. He was quite fun to follow. I took a bit to warm to Emma but that is because I'm not the biggest fan of the "skeptic has to work with magic user" trope. Her characterization was fine. I loved how Pony was written; he was an interesting character. I expected Odette to be revealed to be a werewolf based on something Laz says at the beginning. To find out she was fae was startling but interesting. I'm curious about Persephone and if her name is a coincidence; we'll see.
