The Secret of the Sea Creature by Laurie S. Sutton

3.0

Things I liked:

The kindle formatting worked really well and made following all the different paths easy. Also, the story lines are cute and the whole thing is very on-brand for Scooby and friends. Each of the characters' adventures are unique according to their personalities and skills.

Things I didn't like:

The characters split up right away and then you choose who to follow: Velma, Scooby and Shaggy, Daphne, or Fred. So you don't get very much interaction between the gang. It's mostly solo (or duo) adventures rather than seeing them work together as a team. Velma's story has the most choices for the reader and includes a couple unsuccessful endings, whereas almost all the other endings are wins. With Fred you only get one choice and each of those leads you to a win. So it's a inconsistent in terms of how much involvement you get in the story.

I think I would have preferred a choose-your-own-Scooby in which the gang stays together (at least most of the time) and we solve 1 mystery by deciding what areas to investigate, who to talk to, etc, rather than having ~10 different scenarios each decided by one or two random decisions. Because the choices led to completely different outcomes, each 'story' ends up being so short that the payoff of catching the villain is less rewarding.
