Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor
Did not finish book. Stopped at 44%.
Ultimately, I couldn’t bring myself to care.
I think this is a YA that is really tailored to a YA reader. It became obvious that a primary point of this book was setting up for the next. The material, while beautifully written, was a bit too on the nose and the world building was sacrificed for some character relationships and themes like jealousy and competition and being different.
I peeked forward to see if my assumptions about the romantic plot-line were right, and when I realized how predictable the rest of the book was going to be I decided not to continue with it.
It’s really well written! Just not for me.
