American Royals, by Katharine McGee

4.0

In the book, American Royals by Katharine McGee, you take a look at the royal world of the crown princess Beatrice, who dreams of a 'normal' life. Beatrice becomes the first queen ever. Her parents actually want her to look for a man and get married, but does she want this? Her rebellious sister Princess Samantha and brother Prince Jefferson like things that are actually not allowed inside the palace doors. Her best friend Nina, is an ordinary bourgeois girl, who comes to the palace from an early age and the ex-girlfriend Daphe who is jealous and will do anything to win back her prince.

From everyone's point of view, the unique and special characters are described one by one. Each chapter is a small part of the life of one of these different characters. This way you can empathize with each character in the book and create a bond with them. You also see what the prince(ss) have to give up because they grew up in these family circumstances.

This unique Young Adult book looks at America in a different way. In which America does not have a president but a royal family. The story is full of romance and betrayal. Because of the smooth writing style and the characters you can read the book in one go.

If you like drama, young adult and romance then this book is definitely recommended!

I give American Royals 4 stars.
