Bride by Ali Hazelwood
5.0
"You're not a problem, Misery. You're a privilege."
When Misery Lark. the daughter of a powerful Vampyre council man is forced into an arranged marriage with the Alpha Were Lowe Moreland, she isn't surprised. She was practically thrown to the humans as collateral as a young child which is where she met her best friend Serena, so is used to feeling like a political pawn between the species.
As the Were and Vampyres are mortal enemies, Misery is unsure what to expect, although she did not expect that Lowe would appear so repulsed by her whenever she gets near to him. It's like she stinks, he cannot get away fast enough.
There is a reason she has reluctantly agreed to this marriage though, her own mystery which she needs answers to and is sure Lowe's involvement is more than it appears.
Goodness me, I absolutely loved this book! I was apprehensive because the only previous book of Ali Hazelwood's that I have read is The Love Hypothesis which I was underwhelmed by a few years ago. Bride so far is one of my top two books of the year and I now need to read the author's backlist.
The chemistry between Misery and Lowe is literally perfect, it was so cute and had me beaming throughout. The spice was also *perfect*, I have no other words. Literally no complaints, I loved it so much (will there be a sequel...?)
If you are a romance reader or any other reader who wants to try fantasy and aren't sure where to start, I actually think this is a great introduction. There aren't many fantastical elements but I do think if you enjoy reading about the brief political story between the three species, it is worth checking out more fantasy books.
Obsessed, not over it, want to read it for the first time again...
