Wake, Siren: Ovid Resung by Nina MacLaughlin
dark
sad
slow-paced
1.0
I see the attempt of this book to bring untold stories to the forefront but I doubt readers will need to listen to 32-some ways a woman can be violated in order to understand that female characters/people in Greek mythology (and beyond) were treated incredibly poorly. The language and writing style was eloquent but trigger warnings are needed for every page of this book.
A gift best given to a misogynist perhaps. Didn’t hold much enlightenment for me personally as a feminist.

Graphic: Rape, Sexual violence, and Violence
I respect the attempt of this book to bring untold stories to the forefront but I doubt readers will need to listen to 32 ways a woman can be molested in order to understand that female characters and people in Greek mythology were treated poorly.
