The author of this book commented on a FaceBook post of all things that this series had a scene from a funny post and I was truly intrigued. I was planning on just reading the second book but the first chapter was so confusing with all the characters that I bought the first one too and I have no regrets honestly.
This book was a quick and lighthearted read and just what I needed to get out of a huge slump. The animals, the humour, the redemptions, the (sometimes there) communication. It's so frustratingly funny seeing characters who are simultaneously so good and so bad at communication. 
As someone who is very used to reading dark romances, I was pretty tense, just waiting for the other shoe to drop or something bad to happen. But honestly I was refreshed
