Amari and the Night Brothers by B.B. Alston
2.0
A young girl is looking to solve her brother's mysterious disappearance and she stumbles upon a magical world.
Reviews said that this was Men in Black meets Harry Potter, which is a perfect description. That being said, this book just felt so predictable and laughable with how much it ripped off those magical stories. I really wanted to love this book because of the main character and her being a constant target at her private school, but the story just kept stalling. I felt like it didn't even get interesting until the last 20 pages. Overall, the book has good ideas, but they're just all poorly executed.
