The One Memory of Flora Banks by Emily Barr

4.0

I really quite enjoyed this, as it tackles an unusual topic. I was cheering flora on and I'm sad we don't know what she does in the end!

I agree there are some problematic elements but I saw some of them a bit differently. So the storytelling, due to Flora's memory, is repetitive and circular. As a result i think it simplifies the book a bit but it does do a good job of helping you understand how frustrating her life is. The falling love with a boy"curing" her? More problematic. But! That's only her perception of it. Over and over she is told that her remembering the kiss makes her special not Drake. And I like that take on it. I especially like how it works out with Paige at the end, with her supportiveness and kindness. The death of her brother was the only thing I was desperate to not happen, that was sad. But yes, enjoyable and easy read
