Our Garden Birds by Matt Sewell

4.0

An exquisite find at the library, this book was a delightful companion to dip in and out of throughout the last month or so. I had not heard of some of the birds in this book, such as the Yellowhammer, Hoopoe, Blackcap and Mistle Thrush, but each friendly little bird is introduced with a gorgeous watercolour picture and a couple of paragraphs about their behaviour and appearance.

The book does focus on the garden birds of the United Kingdom so it may not be as useful for readers in other countries... I'm not sure. However, each portrait and description was endearing and very sweet, and it was positively a joy to read. There were some charming pictures of the Robin, Green Woodpecker, and the Barn Owl among many others. I recommend it highly for a simple pleasure.
