The Blight of Muirwood, by Jeff Wheeler

3.0

"It came to pass" ... that there were even MORE LDS parallels in this book than there were in the last one.

It was still a really good read, but I found myself telling my husband "and now my book said THIS, and now THIS" and he was pretty shocked and surprised! Truthfully, I am having some personal struggles with my faith I purposely stay away from christian novels as I get more than enough religion with weekly Sunday teachings. I didn't expect to find so much here in a fictional fantasy recreational read.

Relgious symbolism aside (I do NOT think you have to be LDS for this book to feel "spiritual", there are basic christian references to "the flood" and "the first parents" and just the constancy of "the medium" god-like presence) ... I DID enjoy the story. Once we got through the temple ... I mean abby, there was plenty of action. There was even some romance, I had not been sure that was going to develop. There was some heartbreak ... really, I was heartbroken along with the character. I have a feeling it will work out, but I guess I'll have to continue on.

... I did get a little tired of them mooning over apples though.
