Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami
2.0
The story is okay. Mind-bending but I liked it.
The writing is atrocious. Not even close to matching the hype. The Emperor's new clothes, perhaps?
So many pointless descriptions. So many scenes that go nowhere. So many pointless philosophizations. And I didn't need Nakata to point out, "Nakata isn't very bright" in every other sentence he spoke. The point kind of sinks in after the first few hundred times he points it out.
