Savages by Don Winslow
4.0
The writing was both fun and technically sound. Things flowed well through the dialogue and story, with everything in a fast paced and somewhat staccato manner. The story itself was both interesting and in depth and kept me interested from start to finish (take one part druglord, one part kidnapping, and a few parts of each side thinking the other are savages... and you have your story).
The one and only thing that kept this from hitting 5 stars? Some of the ridiculous need for the author to use silly "OC" terminology ad nauseam. This caused the the characters, at times, to come off a little too much like the movie "Cruel Intentions". It made them... obnoxious.
Still, its a really solid story.
