The Incredible Adventures of Cinnamon Girl by Melissa Keil

3.0

This was a cute coming of age story with impending doom lurking in the background. Whilst I loved Alby and found this book super sweet, the friends-to-lovers trope just took too long for me to really enjoy (like it takes the whole book). There isn’t really much going on in the book besides the impending apocalypse, which did disengage me (to be fair, I had a massive headache and blocked nose when I read the book). It would be good to see platonic male and female identifying friendships instead of it resorting to a relationship.

Set in a quiet and remote town in Victoria, this book should be picked up by those who want a slice of Australia.
