dis gus tang. this was gross and disgusting and yet, I was captivated?? right from the beginning, I was like ugh I do not want to read this during my morning commute. talks of flesh and preparing a body to be consumed, is not content you want to consume at 8am. but there I was, consuming the content about consuming humans. it almost got exhausting, how brutal and graphic it was back to back. but i do think Bazterrica sold me on her thesis. there's no end to how we use (and abuse) each other under capitalism. torture is normalized if we don't see it, and often, even if we do. i really don't think I grasped the cruelty and twisted nature of this book until the end. my jaw DROPPED on the train right when I pulled up to union. insanity.
