Divergent meets Eragon
This book felt like a repackaging of other YA stories.
The flagrant use of the f-word really took me out of it at times.
It’s my fault for not realizing this was classified as a romance. However, it felt like the author threw away what plot she had in order to write the intimacy.
For a fantasy, this was very light on world building. The author relied heavily on the main character reciting historical facts to calm her nerves.
This story had potential if it had been fleshed out better. I think the romance got in the way of better storytelling.
