In this sequel, the romance takes a backseat as Phoebe juggles controlling her powers and finding the truth about her father's death. To be honest, take away the fact that the characters in Goddess Boot Camp are all demigods and what you get is a typical high school novel. Troubled heroine, her boyfriend and the b****y girls out to get her.
The novel is simple enough to read, almost a chick-lit read really. Plot points were all very straightforward with the only mystery being who was the one who knew the truth behind Phoebe's father's death. The book ends with several loose ends untied which indicates a sequel is probably needed but whether Childs will actually write a new one for the series remains to be seen, as the author's profile doesn't indicate any new releases for the series at the moment.
