Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas

5.0

This. Book.
This is the story where Celaena embraces herself as Aelin Ashryver Galathynius. Rightful queen of Terrasan.

Back in Rifthold, she has friends to save, and enemies to perish. Debts to be fulfilled. She must still occasionally play the part of Celaena Sardothien, Adarlan’s Assassin and The King’s Champion.

Having told Rowan to stay in Mistward at the beginning of the book, I was SO excited when he disobeyed orders and came to find her later in the book. She may not have realized it, but she wasn’t… settled, with Rowan so far away, and him coming to her fixed that.

She has to learn to share her plans, and that does come to blows between her and her friends- Rowan, Dorian, Aedion, and Chaol. Even if things are still strained between her and Chaol. And with the addition of Lysander, who she definitely did NOT like prior to leaving the assassins guild.

We get more of Manon’s story this book, who we met in Heir of Fire. I was admittedly a little confused at first when she was added to the storyline, but I do like that her story was becoming more prominent in this book and it seems her story will collide with Aelin’s.

This series is getting better and better as I go along, I’m so glad I decided to read!
